Although there are many military statues in and around Surabaya, the Tugu Pahlawan is certainly the most imposing... The monument stands majestically in Taman Kebonrojo in Central Suarbaya..
The Heroes Monument stands like a rocket pointed towards the moon... It is not ornate or even decorative or particularly large, but its simplicity may have been the deliberate plan of its architect to convey humble, rather than bellicose pride... Adjoining the monument is a museum where the history of the struggle of the people of Surabaya during the war are recorded and exhibited...
